Progress Towards CAA Registration

The programme can help participants:

The CAA Flyer ID demonstrates that a pilot understands how to fly safely and legally within UK regulations.

Why Drone Flying?

Drone flying combines technology, concentration, problem-solving and outdoor activity into one enjoyable hobby.

Many veterans find that learning a new skill can provide:

Improved confidence

Increased focus and concentration

Opportunities for social interaction

A renewed sense of achievement

Personal development

New hobbies and interests

Enhanced wellbeing through outdoor activity

Like our fly-fishing, amateur radio and shooting activities, the Drone Academy provides a supportive environment where veterans can learn together, share experiences and enjoy the camaraderie that many miss after leaving military service.

More Than Flying

This is about more than drones.

  • It is about bringing veterans together.
  • It is about reducing social isolation.
  • It is about creating opportunities to learn, grow and reconnect with a supportive community.

Whether you simply want to experience your first flight or work towards becoming a fully registered CAA drone pilot, the Veterans Drone Academy is here to help you take that first step.
